She was predeceased by: her parents, Thomas Joseph and Gates Howard; and her brothers, Thomas Percy Howard and William Gates Howard. She is survived by: her children, Walter Douglass Garland III (Libby), Howard Scott Garland and Thomas Gates Garland (Sally); and her grandchildren, Thomas Gates Garland Jr., Mary Elizabeth Wells Garland, Joseph Douglass Garland and Clayton Denson. She is also survived by 3 great grandchildren.
