It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Brenda Slay of Crystal Springs, Mississippi, who passed away on February 4, 2022, at the age of 74, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Thomas Evon "Doc" Blakeney and Myrtle Catherine Blakeney; her spouse Von Slay; and her sister Carolyn Blakeney Harbour. She is survived by: her son James B. Chapman, III (Trey); her daughter-in-law Jeanie Carol Chapman of Gallman; her daughter Melanie Ann Byrd; her son-in-law Stephen Byrd of Hazlehurst; her stepson Bob Slay of Terry, MS; her grandchildren, Bryce Chapman (Kara Clark Chapman), Blakeney Byrd (Weston Burney), Preston Chapman, Bradley Morris (Raegan), Robbie Slay and Travis Slay (Katie); her sister Nancy Jo Smith (Gary) of Baton Rouge, LA; and her siblings-in-law, Jimmy Slay of Crystal Springs, MS, Debbie Nance of Hazlehurst, MS, Ann Weeks and Jo Slay of Wesson, MS. She is also survived by her five great grandchildren.
