He was predeceased by: his parents, Cranford Nelms and Lillie Rogers Nelms; his daughter Kimberly Lane Wilson; his siblings, Walter Nelms (Addie), Grady Nelms (Marsha), Lola Ashcraft (Leroy), Vera Dixon (Joe) and Lottie Nelms; and his brothers-in-law, Eddie Derryberry and Pete Lawson.
He is survived by: his wife Brenda Lane Nelms; his grandson Tracy "T. J." Wilson, Jr. (Erika); his great grandchildren, Harlie Wilson, Heidi Wilson and Houston Wilson; and his sisters, Nadine Derryberry and Bertha Lawson.
