He was predeceased by: his parents, Enoch McKinney and Dora McKinney Schwartz; and his siblings, Walter Harvey McKinney, Ulysses Steven McKinney, Charles Dee McKinney, Gladys Mae Farmer, Esther Irene Addison, Ethel Garner Tatum, Mary Etta Wayne and Effie Merle Carter. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and other relatives.
