He was predeceased by: his parents, Ogle Mitchell and Ethel Null Mitchell; and his siblings, Olen Mitchell, Junior Mitchell, William Mitchell, Lonnie Mitchell, Dorothy Mitchell, Beulah Mitchell and Martha Holloway.

He is survived by: his wife Carol Gammel Mitchell; his son Jimmy Mitchell (Cara Beth); his grandchildren, Katelyn Mitchell and Lindsey Mitchell; his great-niece Angela; his siblings, David Mitchell (Sandy), Ronnie Mitchell (Barb) and Melba Hight (Jerry); and his siblings-in-law, Dr. Charles Gammel and Sandra Davis. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, family and friends.
