He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Larry Hill and Ruby Borden Essary; his wife Norma Joy Hood; his children, Bill Hood Essary (Cheryl Moore) of Bartlett, Bryan Charles Essary (Lavonia Bryant) of Corinth and Tammy Essary Philamlee of Corinth; his sister Judy Hughes (Ray); his grandchildren, Jason Essary (Kim), Jeremy Essary (Tiffany), Joshua Essary (Aya), Alexis Carter (Joey), April Joy Riley (Trey) and Tage Joy Philamlee; his great grandchildren, Elizabeth Essary, Will Essary, Rachel Essary, Katelynn Essary, Olivia Essary, Ty Essary, Savannah Essary, Ruth Ann Essary, Ross Alan Essary, Kai Essary, Kaz Essary, Tanner James Carter, Izabela Carter, Rubi Joy Riley and Greenlee Riley; his siblings-in-law, Pat Essary (Martin), Wayne Hindman and Bro. James Hardin; his caregivers, Mavis Easley, Jackie Burt, Odessia McDonald and Vannie Holland; his son-in-law Bro. Greg Philamlee; and his siblings, Bobby Gene Essary (Inez), Martin Ray Essary, Lewis David Essary, Joan Bullard (Odie), Cossette Hardin and Jo Hindman. He was also cherished by nieces and nephews.
In Lieu of flowers, his family requests that donations be made to the Pinecrest Baptist Church Food Pantry and Snack Pack Ministry.
