He was predeceased by: his parents, James Thomas Simpson and Gloria Motley Simpson. He is survived by: his wife Laura Simpson; his daughters, Angela Simpson Dickerson (Drew Taylor Dickerson), Kate Elizabeth Tucker (James Landon Tucker), Ginger Simpson Gregory (James Kendall Gregory, Jr.) and Ashton Leigh Zapf (Noah Nicholas Zapf); his grandchildren, Carter Tucker, Allyn Tucker, Ella Kate Tucker, Mason Tucker, Meade Dickerson, Mary Mack Dickerson, Tripp Gregory, Goldie Jean Gregory, Hudson Zapf and Lucas Zapf; his brother Gene Thomas Simpson (Frances Simpson); the mother of his children Margaret Simpson; his aunt Jan Whitlock; and also Scott Whitlock.
