He was predeceased by: his father Leonard Sweat; his sister Barbara Austin; his stepson Tommy Daryl Nelms; and his great grandchild Maverick Gene Nelms. He is survived by: his wife Jackie Mitchell Sweat; his stepsons, Kevin Nelms and Shawn Nelms; his brother Harry Sweat; his grandchildren, Kaleb Nelms, Kamron Nelms, Jenna Nelms and Daryl Nelms; his nephew Daniel Sweat; and his nieces, Heather Robinson, Vicky Austin and Tina Johnson.
