It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Evelyn Horton of Columbus, Mississippi, born in West Blocton, Alabama, who passed away on February 20, 2024, at the age of 76, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Louie F. Sewell, Sr. and Mary Stough Sewell; her parents-in-law, James Paul and Agnes Bell Horton; her siblings, Sandra Thomas (Joe) and Frank Sewell; and her siblings-in-law, Nancy Traweek and David Horton.
She is survived by: her husband James W. Horton; her children, Christina L. Whitley, James Scott Horton (Patty) and Christopher Horton (Valerie); her grandchildren, Tyler Whitley (Tori), Emma Horton, Jessie Horton, Ava Horton, Ashley Horton, Sarah Horton, Austin Horton and Amelia Horton; her sister Mary Jones (James); and her siblings-in-law, Coye Traweek, Rita Sewell and Judy Horton. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
