He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Coleman and Alliene Atkinson Berry; his wife Lounora Johnston Berry; his brother Don Berry of Jackson, MS; his son Scott Berry; and his grandson Taylor Berry.

He is survived by: his sister Coleene; his sons, Charles Russell Berry (Jane), Reau Berry (Kelli) and Duke Berry (Laura Beth); his sister Colene Berry McCollum; and his sibling-in-law Charles'. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, and fourteen great-grandchildren.
