He was predeceased by: his parents, DeForest Layton and Mary Layton; and his sister Patricia Edgecomb. He is survived by: his wife Helen Hargrove Layton; his daughters, Heidi Kogut, Diane Stafford and Kristen Holmes; his stepsons, Joseph Powell and Farrell Powell; his brothers, Edward Layton and Thomas Layton; and his grandson Ben Kogut.
