She was predeceased by: her husband Thurman Johnson; her parents, John B. May and Bernice May; her sister Winnie "Jo" Davis; her great grandchild Kannon Fortenberry; and her great great grandchild Jack Jennings.

She is survived by: her children, Lawana Manata, Debra "Debbie" Garner, Mike Johnson, Samantha "Sam" Meidl (Bob), Kimberly "Kim" Johnson and Steve Johnson (Michelle); and her sister Shirley McNease.
