He is survived by: his wife Barbara "Babs" Fortenberry; his children, Rachelle Fortenberry Steinhauer (Anthony) and Joshua Fortenberry (Amy); his grandchildren, Abe Steinhauer, Lenora Rose Steinhauer, Abigail Fortenberry, Lucy Fortenberry and Luke Fortenberry; and his siblings, Pat Ward, Betty Jo Childress (Mike) and Philip Fortenberry.
