He was predeceased by: his parents, Dr. James Webb Scales and Dorothy Scales; and his siblings, James Webb Scales Jr., Arthur Paul Scales and Joyce Scales Orr.
He is survived by: his spouse Beverly; his children, Dr. Charles Webb Scales (Theresa) of Ponte Vedro, Fla. and Suzanne Scales Rutherford (Robert) of Jackson, Miss.; and his grandchildren, Gregory James Scales, George Nelson Rutherford and Margaret Elizabeth Rutherford. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
