He was predeceased by: his daughter Gloria Kirkland; his parents, J. P. Kirkland and Margaret Rogers Kirkland; and his sister Ethel Kirkland Culpepper. He is survived by: his wife Freda Thronson Kirkland of Collins; his daughter Sarah Kirkland Grubbs (James) of Gulfport; and his siblings, Mike Kirkland (Diane) of Collins, Becky Kirkland Riley (Paul) of New Hebron, Jane Kirkland of Bassfield and Kay Weekly of McDavid, Alabama. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
