He was predeceased by: his parents, Luther Sanford and Gloy Sanford; his former wife Gussie Sanford; his granddaughter Laurel Lowe; and his siblings, Melvin Sanford and Olene Freeman.

He is survived by: his wife Barbara Donald Sanford of Sanford; his sons, Jimmy Donald (Becky) of Hebron, Mike Donald (Suzan) of Calhoun and Joe Donald (Connie) of Calhoun; and his nieces and nephews, Debbie Pickering (Cliff) and Joey Sanford (Tina). He is also survived by 6 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren.
