He was predeceased by: his parents, J. L. Ellis and Avis Dukes Ellis; his daughter Janice Valencia; and his sisters, Nelda Stewart and Freda King.
He is survived by: his wife Frances Vest Ellis; his stepsons, Robert Vest (Missy) of Greenville and Douglas Vest of Oak Grove, LA; his brother Jerrell Ellis (Clarice) of Lake Butler, FL; and his grandchildren, Matthew, Stephanie, Carmen, Ashley and Tiffany. He is also survived by great-grandchildren.
