With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Melba Benton Douglass of Clinton, Mississippi, born in Puckett, Mississippi, who passed away on October 24, 2024 at the age of 91. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
Though Melba Benton may no longer walk beside us, her memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those Melba Benton touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. In her absence, her spirit lives on — a gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Rev. Robert Hollis Benton and Myrtis Benton; and her husband Jimmy Douglass. She is survived by: her brothers, Bob Benton of Puckett, MS and George Benton of Pearl, MS; and her children, Jim (Mittie Douglass), Steve (Janie Douglass), Lyn (Julia Douglass Kelly) and Ginny Douglass Baynes of Pensacola Beach, FL.. She is also survived by ten grandchildren, six grandchildren in-laws, and seven great grandchildren.
