He was predeceased by: his parents, Leroy "Pat" Patterson, Sr. and Althea "Myrt" Partridge Patterson; his wife Cathy Myers Patterson; and his brother-in-law George Barnett (Buzz). He is survived by: his children, Maria Patterson Humer (Will) of Clinton and Jeffrey Patterson (Shianne) of New Orleans; the mother of his children Karen Barnes of Clinton; his son Luke Patterson of Kansas; his grandchildren, Kaitlyn Hamilton of Clinton, Isabel Humer of Clinton, Karyssa Hamilton of Clinton and Landon Hamilton of Clinton; his sister Katherine Barnett of Texas; his niece Brandy Barnett of Portland; and his nephew Brett Barnett of Spain.
