He is survived by: his wife Joy Gore Averitt; his son Joel James Averitt; his mother-in-law Janie James Gore of Clinton, MS; his siblings, Tom Averitt (Jocelyn) of Greer, SC, Debbie Dougher (Mike) of Chattanooga and Melissa Jo Averitt of Thomson, GA; his siblings-in-law, John W. Wilson (Jay) of Thomson, GA, John T. Gore of Clinton, MS and Mary Jane Gore Savage (John) of Franklin, TN; and his nieces and nephews, Will Guerrant, Scott Savage, Jeff Savage, Louise Frances Averitt and Alix Rose Averitt.
