Danny Collum wrote a sympathy message

“I was a student in several of Joe Cooper's philosophy and religion classes at Mississippi College in the mid-1970s. Encountering his depth of faith and intellect at that point in my life was one of the most important things that allowed me to remain a believing Christian. I'm sure there are hundred, and maybe thousands, of his former students who would say the same thing. Thank God for his long and useful life.”
