He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry "Ted" Weatherspoon and Frankie Mae Summerville Weatherspoon; his uncle Iciphine Weatherspoon; and his siblings, Doris Weatherspoon and Jeffery L. Weatherspoon.
He is survived by: his wife Brenda Faye Weatherspoon of Jackson, MS; his children, Jimmie L. Woods, III of Jackson, MS, Christopher J. Woods (Whitney) of Byram, MS, Christina A. Woods of Jackson, MS and Valarie N. Summerall of Jackson, MS; his grandchildren, Christopher J. Woods, Jr., Christian E. Woods of Jackson, MS, Ashanti A. Woods and Ma'Kya A. Woods of Jackson, MS; and his sisters, Dorothy Holmes of Memphis, TN and Deloris Anderson of Knoxville, TN. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
