He was predeceased by: his parents, David L. Sherer and Belle Frances Hite Sherer; his former wife Janet Tullos Sherer; his sisters, Wendy Bartley and LaBelle Copeland; his parents-in-law, Sam and Carmen Evans; and his grandson Joey Rhodes.

He is survived by: his wife Estelle Sherer; his daughters, Sheriee Townsend (Mike), Renee Sherer, Carrie Sherer-Victor (Phil) and Jerri Sherer; his brother Steve Sherer (Phyllis); his grandchildren, Daniel Townsend (Jennifer), Matthew Townsend (Cortney), Ashley Russ Warren (Larry) and Georgia Lilian Adkins; and his great grandchildren, Payton, Cole Townsend, Josie, Marshall Townsend, Amilah and LJ Warren.
