He was predeceased by: his parents, George Robert and Mary Kathryn Springer Blalack; his wife Judith Mary Opland Blalack; his son Brian Blalack; and his siblings, George Franklin "Frankie" Blalack and Janice Blalack Irby.

He is survived by: his children, Mary Anderson (John) of Chelsea, AL and Peter Ronhovde (Marie) of Bluefield, WV; his sister-in-law Margaret "Peggy" Opland of Bluefield, WV; and his grandsons, Brandon Ronhovde, Daniel Ronhovde, Joshua Ronhovde, Holt Anderson and Brody Anderson.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his honor to Camp Seale Harris Southeastern Diabetes Education Services.
