Cindy Smith wrote a sympathy message

“I met Nickie on an airplane in 1999 and since neither of us had ever met a stranger, we became fast friends! I was completely smitten with his larger than life personality and his undeniable good looks! As time passed, I realized how talented he was; how genuinely kind and compassionate he was and the fact the he REALLY cared about his friends. Nickie was not just about good intentions. He sacrificed for those in need. I will forever miss his positive energy and advice.”
