She was predeceased by: her parents, Abe Brooks and Elizabeth Farris Brooks. She is survived by: her husband Frank Whitehead; her sons, Thomas Whitehead and Greg Whitehead (Elizabeth); her siblings, Carter Brooks, Mimi Strohm and Judy Exum (Ed); and her grandchildren, Brooks Whitehead and Carter Whitehead.
In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to St. Jude Research Hospital.
