He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Cox and Mozella Larry Cox; his brother Edward Cox, Jr.; and his daughter Jennifer Stewart. He is survived by: his children, Joseph Stewart, Joseph Evans, Jason Kirkwood, Jeremy Kirkwood, Felicia Newson and Alfreda Edmond; and his siblings, William Larry, Walter Cox, James Cox, Terry Cox, Richard Cox, Ruth Ann Cox, Mae Willie Brown, Pinkie Young, Magnolia Cox and Laura Ramirez. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.
