He was predeceased by: his parents, Berry Whayne Ray of Philipp and John Bailey Ray (Johnny Boy); and his brother John David Ray (Nancy) of Charleston. He is survived by: his wife Eleanor Covington Ray of Charleston; his children, Michael Ray (Haley) of Saltillo, Kate Buchanan (John) of Cleveland and John Ellis Ray of Charleston; his siblings, Berry Ann Allison of Tippo, Jean Bailey Melton of Tunica and Billy Whayne Ray (Robbie) of Nesbit; and his grandchildren, Makensie Bright, Lilah Kate Ray, John Michael Ray, Ellis Kate Buchanan and Mary Springer Buchanan. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
