He is survived by: his wife Janice Bates of Carson; his children, Bettye Bates Vermilyea (Dan) of Collins, Julia MacDonald (David), Gretchen Turner of Miami, FL and Randy Bates (Lillie) of Tucson, AZ; his stepdaughter Charlene Ford (Bo) of Hattiesburg; and his sisters, Betty Brown of Carson and Patsy Cates of Carson. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
