He was predeceased by: his parents, Van Buren Spence and Helen Gertrude Mitchell Spence; his former wife Evelyn Suzette McQueen Spence; his daughter Katherine D Spence; his sisters, Vannie Sue Spiers and Bobbie Joe Spence; and his nephew Jeffrey Spiers.
He is survived by: his wife Betty Jean Perrette Burks; his siblings, Billy Ray Spence (Sue), Elaine Wierengo and Janice Mitchell; his nieces and nephews, Anthony Wallace (Shelly), Johnny Wierengo (Sherry), Billy Spence (Jennifer), Stephen Wallace, Jonathan Spence (Lauralyn), Josh Spence (Traci), Angelia Pierce, Marcy Robinson (Terry) and Susan Fradella (Darren); and his stepsons, Kelton Burks and Derwin Burks. He is also survived by his 4 step-grandchildren; his 9 step-great grandchildren; and numerous great-nephews and great-nieces.
