He was predeceased by: his father Shelby D. Burnside, Sr.; his sister Shirley Burnside Cummins; and his brother-in-law Walter Carl Cummins. He is survived by: his wife Margo Applewhite Burnside; his sons, Shelby D. Burnside, III, Rock Foster (Andrea) and Waye Foster (Kim); his grandchildren, Jules, Kate, George and Boggan Foster; and his sister Nancy Burnside Taylor (Earl). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Church of Canton music fund in Shelby's honor.
