He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Watson Smith-Vaniz and Lucille Ledbetter Smith-Vaniz. He is survived by: his wife Bridget Smith-Vaniz; his daughters, Lea Ann Packer (Doug) and Sandra Sartin (Sean); his grandchildren, John Palmer Sartin, Jack Andrew Sartin and Lea Douglas Packer; and his siblings, Jo Ann Smith-Vaniz, William Larry Smith-Vaniz and Thomas Richard Smith-Vaniz. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
