He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Lester Sledge and Cooper Lee Ingram Sledge; his wife Mary Alice Terry Sledge; his son Robert Lester Sledge; and his siblings, Homer Sledge, Howard Sledge, Earl Sledge, Mattie Sue Neal, Lena Mae Hannah, Pattie Sledge and Mary Sprayberry.
He is survived by: his children, Carolyn Smith (Charles) of Collierville, Tennessee and Terry Sledge (Zhanna) of Birmingham, Alabama; and his grandchildren, Chris Smith, Jennifer Smith, Jonathan Sledge, Tommy Sledge, Valerie Waskey and Lana Downey. He is also survived by eight great grandchildren.
