He was predeceased by: his parents, Nettie Will Smith and James Oscar Smith; and his sister Nelda Brewer. He is survived by: his wife Florence Hagemeyer Smith; his children, James A. Smith (Susan), Sherron Moore (Terry), Sandra Hitt (Drew) and Jacqueline Huttenhoff (Kevin); and his siblings, Hoyt Smith, Herman Smith (Judy) and Sarah Brown. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
