He was predeceased by: his mother Jeffie Lou Gaines Forman; his daughter Tabitha Gaines; and his siblings, Phil Skelton, Milton Skelton, Jerry Clay Skelton and Anita Skelton.
He is survived by: his wife Margaret Gaines; his son James "Bobo" Gaines; his siblings, Hershel Skelton, Pat Cosby and Diane Eichler; and his grandchildren, Cecelia Gaines, Brandon Kohliem, Anthony Kohliem, Kaitlyn Dexter, Jeremy Gaines, Jayden Gaines, Zoie Gaines and Trinity Davis. He is also survived by three great-grandchildren.
