He was predeceased by: his parents, Samuel Preston Byrd and Dixie Crawley Byrd; and his former wife Peggy Entrican Byrd. He is survived by: his wife Patsy Allen Byrd; his daughter Amanda Byrd Rawls (Robert); his stepchildren, Darryl Hatcher and Tawanda Smith (Glyn); his sister Geneva Barfield (Billy); his grandchildren, Preston Rawls, Liza Rawls Trahan (Travis), Lauren Smith Case (Collins) and Ty Smith (Sara); and his great grandchildren, Lillie Case, Mae Case and Hatcher Smith.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Macedonia Baptist Church Building Fund.
