He was predeceased by: his parents, Forrest Childers and Effie Childers; his wife Barbara Childers; and his siblings, Mary Varner, Ella Mae Hammock, James Childers, Donald Childers and Frankie Childers.
He is survived by: his siblings, Jean Bray, Joyce Layton, Judy Bailey, John Childers, Charles Childers and Cameron Childers. He is also survived by 22 nieces and nephews; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.
