He was predeceased by: his grandson Brett Adams, Jr.. He is survived by: his wife Mattie Rachel Davis of Braxton, MS; his children, John W. Davis, Jr. (Christie) of Jackson, MS and Tanya R. Davis of Pearl, MS; his stepchildren, Jimmy Mangum (Kristie) of Magee, MS, Valarie Adams of Flowood, MS and Deborah Uithoven (Lee) of Albertville, AL; and his grandchildren, Matthew Davis, Nicholas Davis, Angie Blanchard, Katie Baugh, Amy Norsworthy, Colby Holder, Mitch and Matthew Mangum. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousin, and friends.
