He was predeceased by: his father Joseph Mitchell; and his wife Juanita Jones Mitchell. He is survived by: his children, George Mitchell Jr. (Dorothy), Anne Bowlin (Ed), Terry Mitchell (LyVonne) and Donnie Mitchell (Lisa); and his grandchildren, Austin Mitchell (Lindsey), Rocky Mitchell (Melissa), Kendall Bowlin (Lisbeth), Emily Walker (Rick), Casey Mitchell (Cindy), Travis Mitchell (Katie), Amanda Thurman (Ryan), Brian Mitchell (Haley) and Lauren Armstrong (Justin). He is also survived by 18 great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Meadow Grove Baptist Church at 3221 Louis Wilson Dr. Brandon, MS 39042.
