He was predeceased by: his parents, Watson Purvis and Linda Purvis. He is survived by: his wife Dadie Purvis; his sons, D. J. (Leslie) and Ramsey (Erin); his grandchildren, Peyton, Trey, Gareth, Emmitt and Elliott; and his siblings, Watson (Cindy) and Missy (Daryl). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, November 6th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:45 AM at the Oakdale Baptist Church (1872 MS-471, Brandon, MS 39047). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, November 6th 2024 at 12:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Wednesday, November 6th 2024 at 1:00 PM at the Old Brandon Cemetery.
