He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Sr. and IV; his parents-in-law, Laverne and Quentin Coker; and his nephew Eddie Dunavent.

He is survived by: his wife Brenda Coker Dunavent of Booneville; his children, Robert Dunavent III of Booneville, John Cartwright (Dixie) of Starkville, Tamala Harris of Texarkana, TX, Kaye Roselle (Mike) of Bossier City, LA and Regina Newton (Glenn) of Ponte Vedra, FL; his siblings, Chester Dunavent (Lydia) of Sumner, Thomas Dunavent (Patti) of Hernando, Author Dunavent (Richelle) of Hendersonville, Jimbo Dunavent (Barbara) of Tutweiler and Alice Melton of Brazil, MS; his brother-in-law Tommy Coker (Janet) of Booneville; his grandchildren, Tyler Dunavent, Alec Cartwright, Ethan Cartwright, Emily Cartwright, Hunter Newton, Curtis Newton, Seth Newton, Hannah Harris, Justin Keillor and Robert Keillor; and his great grandchildren, Haley and Avery. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, friends.
