She was predeceased by: her parents, Fern Strange and Sadie Strange; her former husbands, Robert Cox and James Earl Smith; her husband Guy Spain; her stepfather Eddie Popovich; her brother Clayton Jerry Strange; and her grandson Danan Smith.

She is survived by: her children, Bucky Smith (Ashley), Matt Smith (Dana), Robin Weaver (Tony) and Sonya Gilley (Gene); her sisters, Emily Mederios, Carolyn Hedstrom and Marilyn Gills; and her grandchildren, Tasha Connley, Rusty Smith (Cannon), Daniel Pitts, Nathan Pitts, Andy Smith (Erin), Stegan Smith, Dr. Michael Thompson (Haley), Hunter Ellis, Elizabeth Ellis, Mana Smith, Mathew Gilley (Brandy) and Erin Harber (Cody). She is also survived by nine great-grandchildren.
