He was predeceased by: his parents, Relmer Whitley and Mattie Johnson Whitley; and his son Philip Whitley. He is survived by: his wife Mary Whitley; his sons, Robert Whitley (Robin), Michael Whitley (Maryann) and Jerry Whitley; his siblings, Robert Wade Whitley (Martha), Francis Whitley (Laurene), Charlie Whitley and Teressia Miles (Gary); his grandchildren, Becky Sartin, Stephanie Demars (Jesse), Adam Whitley, Alex Whitley, Aaron Whitley, Jason Whitley and Amy Dawson (Hunter); and his great grandchildren, Jakob Sartin, Kalena Sartin, Breanna Braden, Bradley Braden, Noah Dawson, Greyson Dawson and Hunter Haynes. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
