He was predeceased by: his parents, Marshall B. Rowan and Mary Cleo McCord Rowan; his son Edwin Keith Rowan; and his siblings, Connelly Rowan, Maxine Rowan and Vera Mae Sappington.

He is survived by: his wife Jewel Langford Rowan; his nephews, Charles Edwin Sappington (Kay) of Gulfport, Bobby Earl Sappington (Jennifer) and Thomas Marshall Sappington (Debbie) of New Albany; and his niece Martha Carol Chandler (Eddie) of New Albany.
