He was predeceased by: his siblings, Willie Dell Smith, Alvin Briggs Jr., Vera Smith, Bobby Ann Briggs and Ollie Mae Briggs.
He is survived by: his children, Chazana Briggs, Tom Briggs Jr. and Dominique Briggs; his grandson Zanari Briggs Chambers; and his siblings, Alice Fay Hall, Diana Ray, Perry Briggs, Wayne Briggs and LJ Briggs. He is also survived by nieces/nephews.
