He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Owens and Irene Owens (Pittman); his siblings, Wilbur Owens, Jasper Owens, David Owens, Lois Elkins, Mabel Osborne, Hazel Carnes, Rachel Everitte, Harold "Bobby" Owens and Carolyn Stone; and his son-in-law David Taylor.
He is survived by: his daughters, Dixie Taylor and Rebecca Palmieri (Rich); his siblings, Grace McDonald and Raymond Owens; his friend Joni Duvall; and his pet Gizmo. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren.
The family asks in lieu of flowers that memorial donations be made to Jackson County Animal Shelter, 4400 Audubon Lane, Gautier, MS 39553.
