He was predeceased by: his wife Mary Ellen Griffin; his son Greg Griffin; his parents, John Thomas Griffin and Margaret Joyce Griffin (Welch); his stepfather Donald Stelter; and his sisters, Donna Stelter, Debbie Fick and Phyllis Schwandt.
He is survived by: his children, Richard Griffin (Lisa) of Missouri and Rachel Bedell (Tom) of Biloxi; his grandchildren, Shanna, Sera, Samantha, Stephanie, Trevor and Austin; and his great grandchildren, Luna, Ezekiel and Emery.
