He was predeceased by: his parents, John Benard and Zelma Talley Smith; and his siblings, Eddie Smith, Robert Smith, Gerald Smith and Florine Hall.
He is survived by: his wife Sherry Slocum Smith; his children, John Benard Smith, III (Tracy) of Dallas, TX, Baine Smith (Marty) of Salisbury, MD and Lana Doherty of Cleveland, MS; his grandchildren, Carson Smith, John Garrett Doherty and Addison Doherty; and his siblings, Earl Smith, Jane Lee and Nancy Beall.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes for memorials to be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or to the Humphreys County 4H Club.
