He was predeceased by: his wife Vivian Raenelle Sims; and his siblings, Edwina Breland of Edith McLeod, Williams Sims, Melvin Sims, Nockie Sims, Ednor Sims and Archie Sims.

He is survived by: his children, Edward Lamar Sims Jr. (Connie) of Beaumont, Vivian Donna Sizemore of Petal, Nell Diann Rogers (Joe) of McLain and Kathy Raenita Miller of Seminary. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; multiple great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
