He was predeceased by: his wife Luvie Dee Bankston; his parents, William C. Bankston and Vema Rhodes Bankston; and his siblings, Kenneth Bankston, Ruby Posey and Jean Hamil.
He is survived by: his daughters, Deloris Linam (John Sr.) and Beverly Ferrell (Vernon); and his sister Jo Anne Richardson. He is also survived by four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
